The laborer, robbed of the opportunity to support self and family on communal land, is forced to earn a living by selling his or her capacity for physical labor by the hour, for a wage. Once sold, that capacity for labor becomes the property of the employer, to be applied as they see fit, and the products of labor are also the property of the employer rather than the laborer, even though it is the latter whose activity produced them.
