Given the tendency toward hemispheric dominance, it is not surprising that we prefer those sensory-motor functions that are facilitated by our particular patterns of lateral dominance. Those senses and motor functions (physical movements) where the dominant eye, ear, hand or foot is on the opposite side of the body from the dominant hemisphere communicate more effectively with the brain even in times of stress.
